Issues
Walter has developed a SURFOX™ smart passivation tester. This tool allows to measure metal surfaces in order to verify the level of passivation of stainless steel products.
Walter contacted Savoir-faire Linux for the development of a mobile application in order to simplify data collection during the quality insurance control of its products. The mobile application would be accessible to users when they purchased a smart passivation tester.
Walter now benefits from an application that allows to easily and clearly naviguate test results based on a client's hiarchy, project and tests in order to access measures taken in a structure way. Walter's data is now synchornised between databases, making it easier to follow the information from the mobile application and the user interface. The mobile application allows for a simplified measurement process, the cost related to the processing of information and data analysis have been reduced. The generation of quality assurance reports are much faster.
Impacts
The user interface allows for a clear and easy naviguation of test results based on a client, project and test hierachy in order to access easily to the measures taken with the passivation tester. The information retrieved with the mobile application can be easily managed, the data is syncrhonised with Walter's databases.
This application allows for a simplified measurement process, information tracking, quicker report generation and reduced processing of test results.
Walter achieved a compettive advantage and a reductin in costs related to the treatment of information and result analysis.
Solutions
The mobile application, developped in iOS and Adroid, simplified the product measuring process. It was adapted to the product smart passivation tester. It guides the users throughout the necessary steps and treats the data captured through Bluetooth automaticaly. The user’s data is easily accessible through a user interface created in collaboration with Savoir-faire Linux’s Web & Design team.
The mobile application developed by Savoir-faire Linux’s development team has the following functionnalities :
- Measurement;
- Project creation;
- Pictures of products;
- Configuration of test areas;
- Retrieval of test data sent to the server through a web-service;
- Offline functionning;
- Alert system between users.
